Welcome to the Future: A Simple Guide to AI
Have you ever wondered how your phone knows exactly what you’re trying to text before you finish, or how Netflix recommends the perfect movie? The answer is Artificial Intelligence, or AI. If you want to dive deeper into these topics after reading this post, you can check out my new ebook here: AI Fundamental.
What Exactly is AI?
First things first: AI isn't a robot brain with feelings. It’s actually a very powerful "prediction machine". Imagine a giant calculator that has read almost everything on the Internet. When you ask it a question, it uses math and patterns to predict the best answer.
How Does It "Learn"?
AI learns through things called Neural Networks, which are loosely inspired by how our own brains work. Instead of learning facts like we do in school, AI processes massive amounts of data to find patterns.
· Tokens: To "read," AI breaks sentences into small pieces called tokens (about $3/4$ of a word).
· The Transformer: This is the engine that helps the AI understand the context of a sentence so it knows the difference between a "dog's bark" and "tree bark".
·
Being a Smart AI User
Since AI learns from human data, it isn't always perfect. It can sometimes have bias (unfair prejudices) or hallucinations (Faulty Logic where it confidently tells you something that is totally made up).
To get the best results, you need to practice Prompt Engineering—the art of giving the AI clear instructions.
The RGC Trick for Better Results
When you talk to an AI, don't just ask a vague question. Use the RGC Framework:
1. Role: Tell the AI who to be (e.g., "Act as a math tutor").
2. Goal: Tell it what you want to achieve (e.g., "Explain long division").
3. Constraint: Give it limits (e.g., "Keep it under 100 words").
Ready to Master AI?
AI is a tool that can help us be more productive, but we have to be the ones in control. By understanding the basics and always double-checking the facts, you can use AI to do amazing things.
